suomen talvi.

-14° ja Jacopo on täällä ♡

cold. snow. sweets. moomins. love. it really feels like Christmas already.

we went out to build a snow Pikku Myy: we want to share it here.
❄ thanks to Kasia for the ski trousers!
there are rabbits visiting the backyard at night time: more to come about them soon!

sataa lunta.

for the first time today I felt the real snow in Helsinki.

it was snowing for a long time and I hope there will be more to come. everything is absolutely beautiful when the snow covers it. I have spent the whole morning looking at the snow flakes slowly coming down from the sky. now I know why I want to live here.

temperatures dropped under 0° and the wild little birds need more food.

I have built a new feeder out of an empty butter box - the bright colour helps the birds to spot it from a distance in the snow.

✻ watching the birds coming to get the peanuts one by one makes my heart warmer - I am truly happy.

human ornament 01.

I have joined a really spontaneous and creative workshop in school: "human ornament". last week we have been working on the previous part of it: producing our new ornament skin out of pieces of fabrics and cardboards.
here are some backstage photographs - just got them developed today.

✻ I am going to be a yellow birch tree of course.

✻ the whole atmosphere was inspiring and it was interesting to see how the others around me were working.
I can't wait for the next part of the workshop: it's going to be next week and I will keep on taking some photographs.

isän päivä.

today google gets a special look:

it is Father's Day here in finland - in italy it is the 19th of march.

a beautiful photograph of my dad - when my sister and me were born he quit smoking the pipe.
I want to dedicate this post to my dad because I believe he deserves more than just one Father's Day: he his a wonderful man and he always has a wise word to incourage me to follow my dreams.
ti voglio bene papà!

my dad and I especially share the love for animals and the taste for good sweets and cakes.

my dad's favourite cake recipe translated in english for Passer Domesticus readers.
since today we can't celebrate together with a slice of fioretto cake - I promise I am going to bake some finnish sweets for him when I visit my family for Christmas.

lettera #4.

♡♡♡ 4th letter from Jacopo.

it took a week to arrive since it was heavily filled with surprises.

✻ I got postcards from his collection, a pocket notebook he have found in his second hand army coat, two special memories from when he was a baby - his first winter hat and little Jacopo figure, a metal box for my salmiakki, a piece of the finest torrone - my favourite italian christmas sweet, seeds and a hand made knife to prepare a little home garden.

I am really happy about this letter and I have already attached it to the love-letters-courtain.
I am waiting for Jacopo to come here in two weeks - since I am really busy in school time will fly!

marraskuu.

november is one hard month here: it is only the start of the winter but the sun goes down at four in the afternoon and the temperatures are getting below zero. to survive the months of darkness here - they say - you got to stay around people: according to this, I think I am well prepared. besides the friendly atmosphere both in TAIK and at home and the lovely letters from my long distance friends, I am also experiencing the most spontaneous and beautiful friendship with my classmate and neighboor Kasia.
❝chi trova un amico trova un tesoro❞

"he who finds a friend finds a treasure"

kasia and I are doing many things together and she is taking photographs of me during our walks through the forest.
♡♡♡
when the sun goes down so early - coming home after a long day in university and finding a special letter is something that I really cherish.
thank you Amanda and Emma!
✻they sent me also a lovely french hat!
