iceland - westfjords II.

the more I scan the harder it is for me to decide which photographs to share: this time I chose two. the road to Patreksfjörður overflowing with lupins had become familiar during our first days in Westfjords: I will always remember it fondly. the lighthouse was the first of many we encountered around Iceland but possibly my favourite: the night was clear and the sun was still shining at midnight - it was magical!

iceland - westfjords I.

we spent our first days in Westfjords in the lovely town of Patreksfjörður where the sun was shining and everybody was friendly: I loved it so much! besides the beauty of the fjords I found myself particularly taken with solitary buildings and other artificial leftovers. below are photographs of a shelter, a beached fishing boat and two abandoned farm houses: more curiosities to come in my next post!

iceland - from western region to westfjords.

I was so excited the day we left West Iceland and reached Westfjords: we were finally going to see that part of Iceland that most people do not find the time to visit and spend an entire week exploring it. the landscapes we met on our way were glorious. here are a few photos from my second roll of film: looking forward to scanning the third!

iceland - western region II.

Snæfellsnes has it hall: from green prairies to lava fields. if you are travelling to Iceland I recommend to dedicate one entire day to visit this incredibly beautiful peninsula! we spent that night in a lovely guest house in Búðardalur where we got to know two fellow-travellers from Canada: the first of many interesting people we met during our journey.

iceland - western region I.

I am very excited to start sharing with you my analogue photographs from Iceland! I took 17 rolls of film: I am going to scan them bit by bit and select a few images to blog along with my memories of the journey. let me begin with Snæfellsnes: we had already visited the peninsula two years ago and wanted to get back ever since. that day the weather was beautiful and we took our time to enjoy the variety of landscapes.
