I truly love wild flowers — the ones that grow among the unkept grass, that people commonly refer to as weed — they are the most charming in my opinion! That is why I love to shoot in locations where the vegetation is free to grow as it pleases, like Suomenlinna.

That Sunday evening everything was perfect: Alexandra's selection of outfits — she truly has an amazing style! — the wild flowers all around us and the colourful houses of Suomenlinna. I had the chance to experiment with full body shots and different angles and — I must admit — I am quite proud of the results! May ended and June begun with blissfully warm and sunny days — I can't recall a start of the summer ever so warm. I hope we'll have more of this great weather!

One Saturday evening — after a lovely picnic in Mustikkamaa — Alina and I had a spontaneous but yet very satisfying photo session. She had not pose for my camera since November last year and I was missing her as my model: I always end up having so much fun with her! By the way, don't you think she looks great in her new haircut?

When my dear friend Alina — who is not just a wonderful person but also a talented photographer — suggested to go for a day trip to Tallinn, I was immediately sold! Later, when she arranged a shooting through E.M.A. model agency, I got even more excited!

On a very fine Saturday we took the ferry to Tallinn — which is only a 3-hour boat ride away from Helsinki. Upon arrival, Alina took me to brunch at the delicious F-Hoone restaurant and, after spending a wonderful morning strolling around Telliskivi and the Kalamaja district, I begun asking myself why on earth I had only been to Tallinn a couple of times before. That little town is a gem and deserves more credit!

We met Gertrud in the afternoon in Telliskivi: she had agreed with Alina on three wonderfully edgy outfits which would make a very interesting urban photo session. Gertrud was not only very professional and extremely beautiful, but she was also an adorable person. I would love to have her again in front of my camera!

Last time we met Heidi the weather was cold and the nature was colourless: how different everything looked three months ago! This time around, everything was blooming with leaves and flowers and the light was so summery and golden!

We first took a few closeups under the cherry tree blossoms: the flowers stay for so little time, I am very happy I finally got the chance to have some photos with them this year. When the sun started to set we headed for Mustikkamaa — it has quickly become one of my favourite locations — since I wanted to take some full-body shots by the sea.

I am extremely satisfied with the results! Working with Heidi is always a pleasure, her outfits are fantastic and, this time around, I was very happy with myself too for getting out of my comfort zone and trying some different perspectives and angles.

28.04.2018 — part 2

Last time we met Marjana not only the weather was very different, but the location was something else entirely — do you remember this post from January? It was about time to take this lovely girl for a session in the nature on a sunny day!

Exactly three months after that cold stormy day in Merihaka, it was wonderful to see Marjana's beautiful red hair shining in the light at Kallahdenniemi. I really love the earthy tones of these photographs, especially the first session in the forest!

It was an interesting experience to take two models on the same session: Marjana and Riim already knew each other, so everything went smoothly. I'm very keen to repeat this experiment! Perhaps next time I should get both of them in the same picture?

28.04.2018 — part 1

Almost a month had passed since my last portrait session, so when we finally decided to meet with Riim and Marjana I was feeling nervous about my performance. I guess it happens to all of us, those moments when we feel a little insecure about what we do, even if we love doing it so much. I am so happy I did not let my insecurity get the best of me though, because that session was lovely and I am very satisfied with the results!

That evening we met at beautiful Kallahdenniemi beach to make the most of the golden hour — longer days call for evening sessions. I will start by sharing a selection of Riim's: I especially love the second part of the session with the aqua dress, but the light in the forest was amazing too! Which one is your favourite?

This is possibly the best way to celebrate one year of friendship with this lovely girl: in fact we met Riim in April 2017 and since then she has become not only my favourite model, but also a dear friend! Thank you so much, darling Riim!
