it had been a long time since I had found something precious at the
flea market - finally yesterday I stumbled upon a special treasure by chance in
Valtteri.
3 volumes of the colour encyclopedia Birds OF THE WORLD from 1969!
✻ 10 of my favourite front covers.
each of the
3 volumes I have got is divided into
twelve parts:
the full encylopedia has 9 volumes. I have seen the remaining 6 volumes in the same spot where I have found the first 3 and I am considering to go back next weekend to pick them up. each issue features
a back cover with a beautiful drawing - which was meant to be cut off
as a poster:
I am going to share some of those too soon.
thanks to this precious find - I will have something to read and a source of inspiration to write my MA thesis!
It's needless to say that we have to pick up the missing volumes ASAP!
ReplyDeleteyes! let's hope nobody else will think about it before we get there!

awww Emi, grazie! sono contenta che ti piacciano! :-)
Deletethe birds that feature the covers are all very unique, but he one in part 10 of vol. 1 is so freaky!
ReplyDeletei can only imagine how many weird looking birds are in just those 3 volumes :)
I know! :-) that's the Shoebill - a type of stork from Africa: it's called like that because its beak reminds of a shoe! ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoebill
