last week I took my friend
Justyna for a walk to
Lammassaari - a beautiful island in the middle of
Vanhankaupunginlahti. on the wooden pathway across the reed bed
I encountered a bird that I had never seen before - for a precious moment it stood enough close to me to take a photograph.
photographs from Lammassaari:

Lammassaari was even more fascinating because of the gloomy weather and
Justyna was a lovely subject to photograph too.
Red-backed Shrike - Lanius Collurio:
P.S. thanks to books and friends - I have finally found out that the bird I met was a Pikkulepinkäinen female.
What a peaceful place and I love that "fat bird" as I always call them! Thank goodness you're much more aware and find out what they're actually called :) I love the Finnish names to all the cities and places - it's so cool. Thank you for the lovely comment btw which I'll answer tomorrow after I sleep (it's almost 3 am here aahh) but I hope I post more too. Truthfully I wish I could post at least twice a week but school is soo much work. I'm sure I'll find a balance! x
ReplyDeletethank you Valerie, for stopping by here at 3 am on a school night! :-) Finnish language is almost as fascinating as Finnish natural environment itself, yet I should learn more of it than just the names of birds and places I like! ;-)

Joana dear, thanks a lot! I was indeed very lucky when that bird stayed still for so long for me! I even got the time to focus! :-)
