expired slide film from the 1980's.

I got the chance to try two expired slide films from the 1980's and Jacopo and I took the Mamiya RB67 to Herttoniemen Siirtolapuutarha to test them: nothing came out from the Fujichrome 100 D RDP - while the Fujichrome 400 D RHP gave some interesting and very peculiar results.
Fuji FP-100 C:

Fuji FP-100 C negative:

✻ the only non-expired film that we had that day was one last FP-100 C.
Fujichrome 400 D RHP:

from the photograph I like the most to the one I like the least.
the film was so old that I had to compensate for its age by rating it at 100 iso instead of 400. the slides came out almost transparent and the only colours remaining were the greens - the photograph with the red house was the only one that got some more colours. this must be my last experiment with expired slides - I think next time I will go back to the Siirtolapuutarha with my Mamiya RB67 and a well preserved high iso film!

  1. I really like the Fuji negative - it's surreal in quality! :)

    1. thank you, Charlyn! :-) yes, fuji fp-100c negatives can turn out really good! too bad for the expired film though, I am quite disappointed about it.

  2. capisco un pò di delusione ma trovo queste foto ugualmente affascinanti... sembrano essere state ritagliate da una rivista anni 70... ci verrebbe fuori un bel collage :) <3

    1. grazie mille! the place is a sort of common garden, from which people can buy a small piece of land to build their own little cottages and private gardens - places like this one are quite common in Finland and I find them very fascinating! :-)

  4. What a great experiment. I love how you photographed them at a straight angle, almost as if you were walking right up to them. Such a pretty outcome! :)

I have the same experience with my Kadak EPP. If you can hardly see the series number on the edge or the dark gap that should be shown on the unexposed part of the slide, that means the color development time is not enough. The first stage of developing processing is called the first development, the second stage is called the color development. Therefore, you should increase the color development time. From your description, I will suggest you double the time needed. You should see the color after doubling the time. Although the result won't be so good as new slide film will show. Good luck.
