birds of the world.

it had been a long time since I had found something precious at the flea market - finally yesterday I stumbled upon a special treasure by chance in Valtteri.
3 volumes of the colour encyclopedia Birds OF THE WORLD from 1969!
✻ 10 of my favourite front covers.
each of the 3 volumes I have got is divided into twelve parts: the full encylopedia has 9 volumes. I have seen the remaining 6 volumes in the same spot where I have found the first 3 and I am considering to go back next weekend to pick them up. each issue features a back cover with a beautiful drawing - which was meant to be cut off as a poster: I am going to share some of those too soon.
thanks to this precious find - I will have something to read and a source of inspiration to write my MA thesis!

i can only imagine how many weird looking birds are in just those 3 volumes :)

    1. I know! :-) that's the Shoebill - a type of stork from Africa: it's called like that because its beak reminds of a shoe! ;-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoebill
