summer in helsinki I.

my Nikon FM had already been fixed last week - earlier than I was expecting it - and since I was eager to try her out I decided to go on an evening walk with Jacopo around Seurasaari. I hadn't been there for a very long time and it was lovely to see the island once again full of green and flowers. that evening the weather was particularly mild and the light was magnificent: there is nothing more beautiful than the summer evening sun.
Nikon FM - Fuji Pro 400H:
my first four favourite photographs from the film roll - in chronological order.
I know the calendar says it is not summer yet - but it does feel so already here in Helsinki: I have been enjoying these past few weeks immensely and I still believe that if it was always summer Finland would be one of the best places in the world. don't get me wrong: I do love a bit of snow in its own time but isn't summer more cheerful than winter? I just cannot get over the beauty of flowers.
P.S. more photographs to come soon: I am so happy my Nikon FM is back! ♥

    1. Thank you, dear Charlyn! The colours were beautiful that evening and I'm happy they seem to look the same on my photographs!
Too bad you're not pleased with your film roll from Montreal, yet I have been looking at the photographs you've shared on your blog and I think they are still very fascinating!

  2. The colours are amazing! I'm not much of a summer kind of girl (unless I spend much of my time at the beach 'cause the temperatures here are so high), but I'm always craving the soft light of summer evenings and that feeling of being frozen in time :)

    1. I know what you mean, Inês: when I was living in Italy, I have always thought that summer was a little too warm and too dry for me to appreciate it, but here in Finland I feel very differently about it!
I agree: soft summer evening light is the best!

    1. Thank you very much! I'm glad you think so! I fell in love with the green there and these days I just can't get enough of wild flowers - they are so beautiful!
You should definitely try the Fuji Pro film rolls: they are great, some of my favourites! There's Fuji Pro 160NS, which may be more suitable for Portugal in the summer time, and Fuji Pro 400H works wonderfully when the light is not too strong!

i couldn't agree more with you about the summer evening sun! about being always summer... in finland maybe, but in portugal definitely not. everything dries, the vegetables in the gardens die often, sometimes it gets to 42C in my town. pfuu. i rather spring a lot more, altough has not got the golden summer light :-)
but that's not portugal, it's beautiful finland and it's almost like i'm there. your photos are great :-)
    this house is wonderful!

    1. Thank you so much, dear Catarina! It's funny, being most of my readers from Portugal and other warm countries, you all seem to agree that summer is way too hot and you couldn't take it for a whole year - that's how I felt too when I was living in Italy, so I totally understand you. Living in Finland, though, has almost completely changed my perception of the seasons: now I love summer so much more!
That house is part of an outdoor museum, which has reconstructed some old Finnish wooden houses - I like it very much too!

    1. I'm glad you like the colours too, Silvia!
Spring used to be my favourite season too, but I'm afraid Finnish spring is too short and cold for me to appreciate it as much as I did in Italy - still, it's always a relief when the winter is finally over!
