iceland IX.

I would like to share here a few more photographs from the second part of our trip along the route F35. after stopping at Hveravellir we decided to continue driving southern to see the famous geysers Geysir and Strokkur - which didn't appear to be too far from where we were. we ended up taking much longer to reach the geysers though: the most spectacular part of the F35 in fact was just about to begin and we had to stop several times to admire and photograph those incredibly colourful mountains.
8th selection of my photographs from Iceland:
Nikon FM - Fuji X-tra 400
Hasselblad 500 C/M - Fuji Pro 160NS
when we finally reached Geysir and Strokkur I was overwhelmed by the amount of people visiting the site: tourists travel easily from Reykjavík to the Golden Circle and the amount of people there was distressing compared to the lonely landscapes we drove across on the F35. despite the crowd of tourists I am glad we got the chance to see the geysers: the eruptions of Strokkur were an incredible sight! besides we had plenty of time to enjoy solitude on our way back to Blönduós - when a storm caught us and the tortuous gravel road became quite scary to drive on.

    1. Thank you, Emilia! I'm glad you think so! Yes, the colours in the third one are crazy: that river was really turquoise and the sky looked almost violet in comparison!

  9. wow, i'd love to see the geysers. storms in iceland must be violent and scary, aren't they? with such a dramatic landscape, i expect the weather to have pretty intense phenomena..

    1. I'm sure you'll see them sometime soon, Silvia! You'd be planning a lovely trip around Iceland, maybe with your Lambretta! The storm was indeed quite scary, especially since we really were in the middle of nowhere, but we got through it fine thankfully and we could enjoy the amazing landscape!
