my italian holiday - crespi d'adda.

Happy 2014 to you all! ♥ I am back in Helsinki and I have just got developed my rolls of film from Italy: it feels good to look through all the photographs and remember my lovely Italian Holiday! during those fine 18 days not only I was able to catch up with some good friends and spend time with my dear sister and parents - but I also had the chance to go on numerous photographic excursions. even though the weather had been rainy most of the time it did not stop me!
Crespi D'Adda:
Nikon FM - Lomography Color Negative 400
I spent the first week with my sister in Milano and did not take any photographs but on the day when Jacopo and I decided to visit the historical village of Crespi d'Adda. the little town seemed really peculiar to me and the foggy day gave it an even more mysterious look: walking through its empty streets felt surreal. I was especially impressed with the graveyard and the building of the cotton mill.
I will share many more posts dedicated to my Italian Holiday... be prepared!

This makes me wonder why anyone goes to Italy in the summer. Winter is clearly the time to be there. This reminds me of the gorgeous and scary movie Don't Look Now. This is on my list of things to do before I die now. Visit northern Italy in the winter. :)

    1. Thank you, dear Sara! I usually develop and print my photographs, because I find that scanning the actual prints instead of the negatives gives me a better result.
I have never been to Spain nor Portugal, unfortunately. I hope I'll get the chance some day!

  16. It really seems to have been a beautiful Polly :-)
I'll be honest with you and I know you're gonna find it a bit bizarre, but the photo of the graveyard is so amazingly light. although, it is the obvious place of sadness, the green of the grass and the shades of pink roses make it so simple that I'm really enjoying the photo.
anyway, beautiful photos as always dear Polly.

I totally understand what you mean about the graveyard - I found it spectacular, despite the fact that it should have been a sad place.

  20. i love the light of rainy and foggy days, how everything seems to be melancholic and stopped in time. maybe it has something to do with the lack of strong shadows.

  21. Huh - the first one looks at a quick glance like it could be some hidden temple in a jungle... but then scrolling down further it's really something totally else. Wow.

    1. I know, right? That looked really like an old temple to me, rather than a catholic graveyard. It was incredible and massive!
