Since my family visited me in Helsinki for a few days, I was so happy to go on an extempore photoshoot with my dear sister again!

Alina — by now officially my go-to makeup artist — joined us too and that resulted in a couple of hours spent chatting away with two of my favourite people ever.

For the location, we decided to stay around Katajanokka — near my family's AirB&B: we found some nice brick buildings for backdrops and even flowers by the shore. Also, despite the threatening clouds, it didn't rain on us and the light was quite beautiful.

How do you feel about these? To me it was just so lovely to have my family here, that I will always associate these photos with dear memories!

When I started taking photos my sister was my very first model. I remember a makeshift paper background propped against the wall at my family home. Many years have passed since then and my sister and I live in different countries now, so having her in front of my camera is very special to me.

It makes me so happy when Emilia can visit me in Helsinki! She spent a few days here and just boarded her flight home an hour ago. Despite the many years we have already spent apart, saying goodbye is hard every single time. Looking at these photos, though, makes me think about the lovely time we got to spend together and I'm grateful for that!

She posed for me wearing my jeans and swimsuit on a peaceful Friday evening in Mustikkamaa. We biked there and back and had so much fun. She is a beautiful, sensitive and wonderful person and I am so proud to be her twin sister!

Like every Christmas break, I got the chance to visit my family in Italy. This time around I did not take as many photos as the previous years, but I did manage to take a few portraits of my sister on Christmas Eve, during a walk by the river. The weather was so sunny and everything was golden: it's hard to believe these were taken in December.

Needless to say, I truly love my sister: she is beautiful inside and outside. I am so lucky to have her by my side: despite the 2500 km between us, we are closer than ever!

I don't usually visit Italy during the summer, but because of a wedding I had the chance to meet my family at the end of June for a few days. I brought my camera along with no special purpose, but ended up taking a lovely photowalk with my dear sister and her boyfriend at Parco Nord — a beautiful wild-looking park in the outskirts of Milan. The sky was overcast, but the park was full of flowers and the peaceful sound of cicadas: it truly got me thinking about the summers of my childhood. To me, these pictures will be a precious memory of those lovely days spent with my family!

I am still spending a couple of days with my family and I am so grateful for the time we are having together — not to mention that the weather has been incredibly beautiful! This morning I took a photowalk with my sister in Pian di Spagna nature reserve and these are a few of my favourite shots: I am really happy with them.

Merry Christmas! Like every year, I am spending it in Italy with my family. The weather has been sunny and welcoming so far, so I'm hoping there will be time to take more photos! Yesterday afternoon my sister and I joined my parents for a walk by the lake in Sorico: the light was magnificent and I even succeeded in capturing a couple of swans. Most of all, I'm happy I was able to spend such a beautiful afternoon outdoors with the people I love. I hope you are also spending the holidays with your loved ones!

Meet Grace

Taking a break from my photowalk posts to introduce you to our new family member: meet lovely Grace! Grace is a 14-week-old Maine Coon kitten who finally moved in with us two weeks ago. I forgot how wonderful and engaging having a kitten was! Grace has made our lives brighter — including the one of our dear Tove, who finally has someone to play with. Naturally we have been taking millions of photos of Grace, but we are sharing only the best ones on Grace's own Instagram — take a look, if you please!

A Portrait of Tove

I am curious to see if this portrait of my cat Tove will get more attention than my other latest entries. What a disappointment the new year has been in terms of comments and visits to this blog: I cannot believe the Photowalk with Minttu & Corey has received no comments at all. I can only imagine that my decision to switch to digital has really affected some of my readers after all. That is too bad because I have been enjoying my Nikon Df so much and I am planning to have many more photowalks!

Photowalk with Emi

While spending a few days at my family home I had plenty of time to test my Nikon Df. The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny for Northern Italy and I had the opportunity to take more than a photowalk: two of them with my sister Emi. It was lovely to be able to catch up with her and capture those precious moments with my new camera!

photowalk with emi III.

during the winter afternoons in Valtellina the sun disappears quickly behind the mountains: that day we ended up by the lake just when the light was fading. I am very fascinated by Lago di Mezzola and I find it especially beautiful in the winter mist. I did not have a wide angle lens with me and there was barely enough light to take a photograph but I still wanted to take a few.

photowalk with emi II.

I remember that photowalk with such pleasure! the sky was overcast but it was quite warm and Emi and I had a lovely time chatting away and walking along the quiet country road. The nature reserve of Pian di Spagna has definitely become my favourite place to go to when I visit my family.

photowalk with emi I.

I still cannot believe how well received my previous post has been and how appreciated the portrait of my twin sister has been on Flickr: over 480 favourites is a personal record for me. now let me take you on a photowalk with my twin sister Emilia - as known as Emi among family and close friends.
