kivinokka.

it is the last day of February and I cannot help but thinking that this has been one of the warmest winters I have spent in Finland so far. the snow has completely melted and just the sea remains covered by a thin layer of ice. I am looking forward to the coming spring and I hope it will bring colourful sunny days and excursions in the wilderness. these photographs were taken last weekend in Kivinokka on a cloudy day: the mood is nostalgic and I love the reflection of the trees on the ice.
Kivinokka:

Nikomat EL - Efiniti UXi Super 200
I always prefer to take photographs from a high point of view and that is why I like that spot in Kivinokka so much. can you see the bird flying in the second picture? that one is probably my favourite of them all. I had never used a Efiniti UXi Super 200 before: lovely Evelyn from The Present Is sent it to me in a letter a few months ago and now I think it is a very fine film!
have a lovely weekend and a wonderful start of March!

    1. Thank you, dear Birdie! Today the snow is falling again and I'm a little disappointed... I hope it will melt away soon. It's time for spring now!

  2. Oh! How beautiful that the ice covered water turns back into a mirror. That bird makes the place fairytale-like. It is a special thing to see the seasons changing. Beautiful photos! Here too, it has been one of the warmest winters since measuring temperature started. Some shrubs already become a little green, such as the elder. Last week the cranes flew over The Netherlands back to the North.

    1. Thank you so much, Ingeborg! It seems like this winter has been quite warm in Europe and very cold in North America instead. It's unbelievable the birds have already started to come back. Spring mustn't be that far!

I was thinking first, wonderful colours, and secondly, Efiniti UXi Super 200??? I have never heard of it. Is it one of these repackaged films that are actually Fuji or Kodak under a localized name?

    1. Thank you, Marcus! It was my first time with a Efiniti UXi Super 200 as well and I had never heard of it before either; a pen friend and blogger from Singapore sent it to me in a letter. I think it must be a Fuji rebranded.

  4. i can't imagine about how cold the winter is there. as i live in a tropical country, in an island where practically it's summer here everyday, 16 degree celcius is already cold for us tropical people.

    1. I cannot even imagine how it must be not see the changing of the seasons... Summer every day of the year sounds appealing for a while, but I think I would end up missing winter too!

  14. It has never even occurred to me to spot for reflections on ice, such is the foolishness of a city dweller in a snowless country. In any case, lovely photographs and I think this film is very suitable for your photo walks, Polly! :)

    1. Thank you, Katie! It is very hard to see any reflections at all on the ice, unless it is newly formed and with no snow covering it. That time was a beautiful rarity!

  15. Hi Polly! Glad you like the film. This film has never given me such bluish tones before, and I think they match the kivinokka landscape well! :)
