03 April 2014

april is here.

I cannot believe it is already April!
today I would like to share a photograph that I did not take but that Jacopo took of me instead. a couple of weeks ago we ended up walking on Hietaniemi beach just before sunset: it was a very windy day and my eyes were watering but Jacopo took my Hasselblad and shot this photograph of me which I think turned out quite good - I have a dreamy yet melancholy expression in it that I really like. I believe it is meaningful that this portrait of me was taken just a few days after I had changed my hairstyle - saying goodbye to the straight bangs that I had worn since my childhood.
a photograph of me taken by Jacopo:
Hasselblad 500 C/M - Lomography Redscale 100
unfortunately the rest of the photographs taken on this film roll all turned out really badly - extremely grainy and with horrible stains of colours. I have to say I was quite disappointed by the Lomography Redscale 100: the Lomography Redscale XR 50-200 is much better in my opinion. still I thought this particular photograph was really worth sharing. many thanks to Jacopo!

    1. Thank you, dear Sara!
I always like it more when Jacopo can join me for a photographic excursion!
I will post another photograph of me some other time... I rarely like myself in photographs.

    1. Thank you! It is not so much a new look, just a fringe swept on the side, to let it grow. I wanted my hairstyle to be more practical.

    1. Thank you, Etta! You know, I totally agree with you. Straight bangs are beautiful and I really miss mine, but they are absolutely not practical at all. Especially in a city likes Helsinki, where it is always so windy!

    1. Haha, thank you, Silvia! I suppose it doesn't show that much in the photograph, but there is really not that much to see, just a fringe swept on the side.
April is a beautiful month indeed!

  10. Outstanding portrait. Well done, Jacopo!
I understand perfectly your disappointment. Last year I got so many bad results that I started to think that the Hasselblad doesn't really see eye to eye with that Lomography film.

I was really disappointed by this Redscale 100, but I still have some faith in the Redscale XR and I hope it won't let me down!

    1. Thank you, Evelyn! Bangs are beautiful, as long as you don't live in a windy place!
