After a 2-weeks break, I was dying for a photoshoot! Having said that, taking a break is good from time to time: I got back with more energy and a fresh mind.

Here in Finland, the beginning of August is the best time to leave town and go to the country: the colours of late summer are just perfect, if you ask me. For this session, our model was gorgeous Siiri from Onni agency, while my dear friend Alina took care of makeup and styling — I am going to involve Alina more and more, since I really love working with her.

I'm really happy with the results: the field backdrops were perfect and so was the light. Also, we ended up spending a great afternoon together: all of us had a fun time, model included!

There's nothing better than leaving my desk job early to go out for an evening photoshoot!

That Monday evening we met with Nanna, our very first model from Onni agency. I love Nanna's style: her wardrobe is classy and minimal, so it works very well in a clean urban location. Last time we shot in Kaisa library, while this time around we decided to go for Finlandia-talo.

It was a very windy day, but the sky was clear and the light was nice. I especially like the second outfit; that yellow bikini top was the perfect pop of colour!

After several photo sessions in the nature, it's always good to go back to some urban settings for a change! I had never shot in Merihaka during the summer before, so it was about time to try it out. Any location is much better in the summer, don't you think?

Once again through Onni agency — and with the help of wonderful stylist Jessica — we arranged a photoshoot with a new young model, Betty. Despite being her first time posing professionally, Betty did really well! I especially like the photos we took at the end of the session, with her hair blowing in the wind and sparkling in the backlight.

The evening before Midsummer I had the most perfect photoshoot!

Last time Chono had posed for me was on a snowy day in January: 6 months after, this photoshoot couldn't have been more different. The sun was warm, the sky was blue and the grassy hills of Suomenlinna were covered in flowers.

I had a lovely time with Chono strolling around the island and the photos turned out exactly how I wanted them to be! Which set do you prefer? The one on the rocks by the sea or the one on the grassy hills?

I can't believe June is already here! I wish I had more time to celebrate the beauty of these early summer evenings, but sadly my daily job has kept me really busy lately.

I felt so happy when I finally got that Friday evening off for a photoshoot! This time around my model was Neea, a gorgeous girl who had just started working with Onni Agency: her freckles are fantastic and so unique for Finland!

To make the most of the evening light by the sea and to find some field flowers at the same time, we decided to go to Seurasaari. I am very satisfied with the first set, but I wish I had found more interesting flowery backdrops for the second. What do you think?

I love it when the fields are full of flowers: it's the best time of the year to take photos in the nature! To celebrate the start of the blossoming season, I arranged an evening session in Mustikkamaa — the best locations don't always have to be the furthest away.

This must have been one of my favourite photoshoots in a while: even though it was the first time posing for 15-year-old Laura, her stunning looks and her lovely and easy going personality made up for her lack of experience — one of the best young models I have ever worked with so far! I liked Laura's mum too, who spent her evening with us — given her daughter's young age.

Once again, many thanks to Onni agency and wonderful Jessica, who came up with two outfits on point! Which one is your favourite?

I have lost count on how many photoshoots we have done through Onni agency: I really appreciate how straightforward and easy going it is to work with them!

Modeling for us this time around was Micaela, who also happens to be the sister of our stylist Jessica. It was lovely to see the two sisters working together; the atmosphere was very relaxed and we all had fun!

Even though we took both sets in Suvilahti, they turned out to be very different: during the first part of our session the sky was overcast, but then the sun came out. I can't decide which set I like the most... Perhaps the one in the skate park? What do you think?

It's again that time of the year when Helsinki gets cherry blossoms, so I couldn't possibly miss on the opportunity to take some flowery portraits. For the occasion, we arranged a photoshoot with Sophie — from Paparazzi model agency.

For the second set, we decided to go for something completely different; we left the pink blossoms behind and headed to Öljysäiliö 468 — a whitewashed oil silo by the sea. The blue sky and striking looking building made for a great minimal background. Which is your favourite set?

When I started taking photos my sister was my very first model. I remember a makeshift paper background propped against the wall at my family home. Many years have passed since then and my sister and I live in different countries now, so having her in front of my camera is very special to me.

It makes me so happy when Emilia can visit me in Helsinki! She spent a few days here and just boarded her flight home an hour ago. Despite the many years we have already spent apart, saying goodbye is hard every single time. Looking at these photos, though, makes me think about the lovely time we got to spend together and I'm grateful for that!

She posed for me wearing my jeans and swimsuit on a peaceful Friday evening in Mustikkamaa. We biked there and back and had so much fun. She is a beautiful, sensitive and wonderful person and I am so proud to be her twin sister!

Do you know when the weather looks absolutely amazing, but it suddenly turns bad just when you're about to do something outdoors? Unfortunately that's what happened to us then... Still we managed to get some pretty cool shots, don't you think?

Jacopo had the brilliant idea to use Helsinki velodrome as a location: it looked a bit eerie on such a cloudy day, but I think that made it even more special. Jessica chose two retro sporty outfits, which looked perfect on Belinda — our Onni agency model that day. Overall a very successful photoshoot: check out more photos on my Instagram too!

As much as I love having new people in front of my camera, going on a photoshoot with a close friend is always nice — especially when that close friend is Alina! Alina has posed for me multiple times and we seem to be clicking well together not just as friends, but also as photographer and model. Also, she has been experimenting with styling lately and has chosen some great looks for our photo session!

The weather was quite gloomy that day and the location we were originally planning to use turned out to be overcrowded due to some city event. Thankfully though, I thought about going back to the rooftop of REDI shopping center — I hadn't been there since January. This time around there wasn't any snow and the whole roof was accessible and offered plenty of interesting backdrops.

I'm especially happy with the results because I was able to experiment a lot with in action shots, thanks to my new Z6 — so much faster and precise than my Df — and to Alina's willingness to run and jump around for me. It was a really fun afternoon!

This was a very special photoshoot: the first with my new Nikon Z6!
I can't believe more than 3 and half years have passed since I started shooting digital. My dear Nikon Df has served me well and it wasn't until a few weeks ago I started thinking about upgrading my gear. Even though it wasn't a light-hearted decision — the Nikon Z6 is an expensive camera and it comes with a new lens mount — I am happy I finally made up my mind and decided to go for it! As for the glass, I chose to start with purchasing the Nikkor Z 50 mm f/1.8 S, as I still believe the 50 mm to be the most versatile lens.
I am very excited to see what this new Nikon Z6 era will bring!

Once again through Onni agency and with wonderful stylist Jessica Seppälä, this time around we decided to shoot in Lauttasaari — an island full of big rocks with a scenic city backdrop. The model was gorgeous Rebekka.
Even though the light conditions were quite difficult — clear sky and harsh sunlight — I am so impressed with the results! The Z6 did an excellent job in backlight situations and I could do some drastic crops too because of the resolution — so much higher than in the Df.

After several photoshoots in the city — I realised I spent the entire winter shooting indoors or in urban settings — it was high time to go back to the nature. As much as I appreciate the stunning design buildings in Helsinki, I find it much more relaxing to shoot outside the city. Winter is not ideal for that, though now that finally spring is here and summer is approaching, I'm looking forward to being in my element more often!

This time around I got to work with Jessica — a talented stylist who did an incredible job to collect some beautiful pieces of clothes that perfectly fit the mood we were after — and with Veramari — a gorgeous young model. Once again, I must thank Onni agency!

I enjoyed that Saturday morning so much, everything went smoothly: the weather was warm enough, the sky was just the right amount of overcast and both Jessica and Veramari did an excellent job. How do you like the result?
